The way that suggest Marty is the best imo, maybe paired with the 1 week/"how much you want" time for the permanet deletion.
At least, if you get hacked, you wont lose a gwamm or things like this....(is still a bad experience i guess).

Accounts cannot be "hacked" like some people think (anyone that hacks the Anet servers will be doing completely other things then loggin' in ur account and deleting joo chars), just be smart and don't tell people your pw/details and don't use the same details on standard-format forums (like most guilds have). And watch for keyloggers/get a mac

. If this feature is to be added it should be free and maybe it would be better if it was more a second line of defense then a permanent measure. With that I mean that i.e. you have to answer 3 other questions (made and answered by yourself) before you can delete said character rather then just having to fill in the name like now.

-Another thing: what if the str0ng hacker decided to make sure you can't delete your collection of r6 paragons and you end up having 7 useless character slots?

good suggestion until the day comes when u regret making your char look the way it was or named it the way it was

but what i think should happen is that chars that are deleted can be retrieved back with a 1 month waiting period[more then enough time for someone to get back their account], after the 1 month the char is completely wiped.
